| Royal Delft trophies take centre stage in The Final Lap of the 2026 Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort |
|
Delft, August 20, 2026 – For the fourth and final time, the exclusive Royal Delft trophies will take centre stage on the podium of the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix. To mark this special edition, the Dutch Grand Prix and Royal Delft invited two leading Dutch creative talents to design the trophy collection: FashionTech pioneer Anouk Wipprecht and artist and innovator Don Diablo.
Tradition meets technology with Anouk Wipprecht
The winner’s and constructor’s trophies were designed by internationally renowned designer Anouk Wipprecht. In collaboration with Royal Delft, she brings together centuries-old ceramic craftsmanship and advanced technology in a unique, contemporary design.
“For me, technology is most interesting when it is not only functional, but gives an object a new form of expression. In this trophy, I translate the dynamics of Formula 1 into light, transforming the traditional ceramic object into an interactive, almost living interface." – Anouk Wipprecht
The light technology integrated into the Dutch lion and the number 1 on the trophies was created using a specially developed electroluminescent material. Its flexible properties allowed it to be seamlessly incorporated into the trophies, making the elements appear to glow from within and quite literally bringing the trophies to life.
The decoration features distinctive Delft Blue floral motifs, fragmented across the surface like shards and connected by gold lines inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi. The constructor’s trophy draws inspiration from the historic Pijnacker-decoration, combining deep red, Delft Blue and gold accents as a reference to the Dutch flag. The continuous gold lines symbolise the lasting memories created at Circuit Zandvoort.
Don Diablo brings futuristic visual language to Delft Blue
For the second- and third-place trophies, Don Diablo created the painted decoration. Rising from the base, the design features a traditional Delft Blue landscape of windmills, sailing ships and maritime elements. Towards the neck, floral motifs gradually transition into a sky filled with hexagonal forms, a recurring element in Don Diablo’s creative work.
Landscape painting has been an important part of Royal Delft’s tradition for centuries. By combining this classic style with Don Diablo’s futuristic visual language and chrome details within the painted decoration, the design creates a bridge between past and future. Its maritime character further reinforces this connection, while also containing a subtle personal reference to Don Diablo’s family name, Schipper.
"The windmill in the design is a reference to my childhood in Drenthe, where I literally grew up next to a windmill. It is a nostalgic image that takes me back to my youth. " – Don Diablo
Royal Delft: centuries of craftmanship
All trophies are crafted from high-quality ceramic and made and painted entirely by hand by Royal Delft’s craftspeople and master painters at the atelier in Delft. The floral decorations and characteristic landscapes reference motifs that have defined Royal Delft’s craftsmanship and rich tradition for centuries.
De Trophy presentation
The winner’s trophy will be presented by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands on Sunday, 23 August 2026, on the podium at Circuit Zandvoort. It will be presented in the iconic Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk, the official trophy case created by Formula 1 partner Louis Vuitton. The trunk provides a distinctive setting for the presentation of the most important trophy of this historic final Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort.
